Americans (non-filers) – US Passports go Hi-tech
According to recent news reports, new U.S. State Department regulations issued October 25, 2005 say that passports issued after that time will have tiny radio frequency ID (RFID) chips that can transmit personal information including the name, nationality, sex, date of birth, place of birth and digitized photograph of the passport holder. Eventually, the government contemplates adding additional digitized data such as "fingerprints or iris scans."
This may impact US citizens that fail to file US income tax returns. It may now be easier for the US government to identify individuals not filing US tax returns.
